The True Revolution Begins: Google Turns Gemini into an Agent That Works for You 24/7

This week, Google reshuffled the deck. This is not just another chatbot that can write poems or summarize articles – Google has announced a massive update to the Gemini app that changes the rules of the game and officially transforms it from a smart assistant into an independent AI Agent.

At the latest developers conference, Google made it clear that it is moving from the "ask me questions" stage to the "let me do it for you" stage. The biggest news is the transition to proactive background action. If until today you had to enter the app to get help, from now on, the AI works for you even while you sleep.

Gemini Spark: The Employee That Doesn't Go to Sleep

The heart of the update is Gemini Spark – a personal AI agent that operates 24/7. Unlike the models we knew, Spark does not wait for you to open your computer. It runs on Google's cloud and is capable of performing complex tasks in the background even when your phone is locked.

Imagine your AI scanning your credit card statement every month to find hidden charges or subscriptions you forgot to cancel. Or perhaps it tracks the stream of emails from your children's school, extracts the important dates, updates the calendar, and sends a summary via WhatsApp to you and your partner. These are no longer future scenarios, but capabilities built into the new system.

Thanks to a new protocol called MCP (Model Context Protocol), Spark will soon be able to connect not only to Google Workspace tools but also to external apps like Uber, Notion, and Dropbox, making it your digital hub.

Your Morning Is About to Look Different

Another feature that is drawing attention is the Daily Brief. Every morning, Gemini will prepare a personal and focused briefing for you. It won't just read your calendar; it will synchronize urgent information from email, tasks, and meetings, and suggest next steps for you to take. If there is a meeting that was canceled or a document that needs to be reviewed before starting the day – it is already there.

To make this interaction more pleasant, Google introduced the Neural Expressive design language. Forget walls of boring text; from now on, answers will be presented as dynamic graphs, interactive timelines, and short videos generated in real-time. The goal is for you to absorb maximum information in minimal time.

The Engine Under the Hood: Gemini 3.5 Flash and Omni

All this magic is made possible thanks to the new Gemini 3.5 Flash model. This is the fastest model Google has released to date, which has undergone special optimization for Agentic tasks and coding. It is 4 times faster than previous models and significantly cheaper to run, which allows it to run continuously without lag.

Simultaneously, the Gemini Omni video model was launched – a tool that allows you to create and edit cinematic quality videos through a simple conversation. You can ask it to change the background in a video you filmed, add objects, or even integrate a digital avatar of yourself that speaks the text you wrote, including perfect synchronization of body language and voice.

AI Comes to the Desktop (Mac)

To top it off, Google launched an official app for Mac. The app can run on your local files and understand the context of what is happening on the screen in real-time. Using a simple shortcut (Option + Space), you can ask Gemini questions about the code you are writing or the document open in front of you, without leaving your workflow.

Summary and Conclusions

We are at a turning point where AI stops being just an advisor and becomes an executor. The transition to proactive agents like Spark is the most significant step we have seen in personal productivity in recent years.

For us, the users, this means less time on "administrative work" and email management, and more time to focus on what matters. However, this transition requires us to learn how to "manage" our AI and set clear boundaries for it. The future is no longer waiting for us to ask it questions – it has already started working.
